I Went to a Gala I Had No Business Being At

Last Saturday, a friend of mine asked me to accompany him to the Ontario Medical Association's annual awards dinner. He was receiving an award and because his girlfriend is in another province, invited me along.

I may have been the only person there that wasn't a doctor or becoming a doctor in the next few years. I got asked questions about my specialty, what year I was in, what school I go to, and many other ones I simply didn't understand. I gracefully declined to answer and tried to explain that I was just there for moral support, but the conversation quickly ended when they realized they had nothing to talk about with me.

I punched above my weight. I realized I have zero things in common with these people, but that didn't stop me from trying to learn everything I could. I also realized that compared to most of the people at that awards gala, I'm not very good at schmoozing. This was the big leagues, these people schmooze professionally and have been doing it for decades.

So I spent the night watching and learning. While I'll likely never see those people again, I am now determined to perfect my schmoozing and perfect my way of talking to the people with the money and the power to change things.

And I got to wear a super cute dress so there's that.

On Moving

So I live in Toronto now. I finished my last exam and packed up as much as I could carry and left. On one hand, I'm excited to be out of that house and begin my new adult life. On the other hand, I'm living in a city I know very little about with no job and crashing at my boyfriend's place.

While I know this is where I want to be, it's pretty hard to watch my savings dry up just trying to live here. I've also learned that I have to keep a routine if I want to get out of bed during the day, so everyday I have a goal of applying to 3 jobs. I'll eventually get one that way, right? I'm also making sure I eat everyday and do more than watch old Grey's Anatomy episodes.

But for right now, I'm enjoying my impromptu vacation. And if you know any marketing jobs in Toronto, hit me up.

My Obsession with The Bachelor

A couple weeks ago when my friend asked me to join her Bachelor fantasy league, I didn't think much of it but picked which girls I liked the best based on the premiere and their little bios on the Bachelor website.

I've never actually followed The Bachelor before - I've seen a couple episodes and I know about the drama with Tierra.

So this is my first season where I'm actually attached to the show and the girls. Although I kind of hate the "Farmboy" Bachelor, he has picked some good girls and he knows how to keep the drama coming.

Last night was probably the best episode, and it can only be summed up as "Bitches Be Crazy."

In the best way possible, it was Kelsey vs. Ashley on the 2-on-1 in the middle of nowhere. After confrontation, and a whole buttload of crocodile tears, both girls were sent home. I was definitely team Ashley, even if her crying and snorting is so gross and annoying. At least she never faked a panic attack.

I'm still sitting at second last in my fantasy league (damn you Juelia!) but I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

And my money's on Britt or Whitney.

Grammy Night!

Tonight's the big night! Gaga has already won her award, and her outfit is flawless!

I'll be live tweeting the night over here even though I should be studying for my midterm tomorrow.
